Barn cats are those cats with inconsistent litter box habits, are shy of people, and are too independent to appreciate living in a home.
FACF’s Part:
- Pay for the spay / neuter
- Pay for the microchip
- Pay for the needed vaccine(s)
Iowa City Animal Center’s Part:
- Test for FELV/FIV – cats adopted out will be negative
- Cat will be in good health
- Vaccines will be recorded and kept up-to-date
Your Part:
- Donate to the Barn Cat Program
- Adopt a barn cat (or 2)
- Follow our social media and eNewsletter to stay up-to-date with barn cat needs
- Spread the word about the Barn Cat Program to increase donations and barn homes
Adopter’s Part:
- Provide a warm, secure, dry barn or building
- Commit to the acclimation period of two weeks
- Constant dry food and clean water
- Monitor their safety and well-being
- Provide vet care every 3 years
- Provide vet care in the event of an illness
