The Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center is the “cause” the Friends of the Animal Center supports. The homeless animals cared for at the Center will always be the main motivation behind FACF.

During 2005, over 2,100 animals cycled through the Animal Center.  Some were lost pets, others were owner relinquished animals, "confiscated" pets who had been neglected or abused, or stray animals who had been struggling to live on their own. The Center sees to it that these animals are in good health and makes every effort to find a good companion home for each animal. View the animals currently being housed at the Animal Center at www.icanimalcenter.org.

The Friends of the Animal Center has made progress in many areas over the past several years. The following graph shows expenditures by program category since 2001.

$5 pays for upper respiratory treatment for 2 cats for 21 days.

$25 pays for 30 days of flea treatment for 25 cats.

$50 pays for an eye or ear surgery for one dog or cat.

$200 will pay to cure one large dog of heartworm.
